BioCentric Energy Announces Major Algae Growth in PBR Systems After Tubing Enhancements
SANTA ANA, Calif., June 29, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- BioCentric Energy Holdings, Inc. (Pink Sheets:BEHL) announced MAJOR algae growth in the company's closed loop PhotoBioreactor systems after significant enhancements to the tubing materials.
Company President Monique Berry stated today, "I am pleased to announce the following results as a major improvement to our PBR closed Loop systems tubing enhancements."
Ms. Berry stated, "Within a week of inoculating the commercial test PBR system at the Company's headquarters in Santa Ana, CA, the algae has grown and is thriving exceeding all projections and expectations. With the controlled exposure of the sun's rays, nutrients, water, temperature control and other elements, the company's closed-loop system created a perfect environment for the algae to grow at an enhanced level."
View the system live (Watch Algae Grow) at: http://99.89.143.46:8081/CgiStart?page=Single&Language=0
Currently the PBR hardware and components have been optimized and are requiring minimal maintenance and supervision. BioCentric lab technicians are monitoring the pH levels and recording the algae vital stats 24/7.
Although the Company has replaced the former plastic tubing with highly robust durable plastic tubing (warrantied for 2 years) BioCentric Energy is extremely confident in their PBR systems ability and IP to consistently grow mass quantities of algae in a sterile environment at surpassed levels offered by competitors. BioCentric Energy's Field Operations Director, Jose Sanchez, has been validating the algae production in the commercial demo PBR this past week and stated, "We have met and surpassed the commercial production rates for growing algae beyond all previous levels of expectation."
BioCentric Energy's secondarygravity-fed PBR system also located at the Company's Santa Ana, CA headquarters is now operational and will be inoculated with a proprietary algae strain within the week. This PBR system will test the growth rates and nutrient requirements in a commercial environment.
The Company's first commercial JV site located in DVJ (Death Valley Junction CA) , is progressing as planned and BioCentric Energy is meeting all projected timelines for the project. After the successful deployment of the 4 CAB (controlled algae basin) liners last week, BioCentric Energy Founder Dennis Fisher enthusiastically commented, "Earlier we confirmed that the DVJ site had a plentiful water source that would be used in the CAB to keep the algae cool and at a stable temperature. Surprisingly, the water is 15 degrees colder than anticipated. This will greatly help with the cooling operation and may increase the growth rate of the algae."
In the weeks prior to July 7th, (the anticipated delivery date for the enhanced PBR plastic tubing) the Company's lab technicians will be working assiduously to scale up algae inoculum for the Wall Unit and Cubes. When the new PBR system is operational, the algae inoculum from these units (Wall and Cubes) will be placed into BioCentric Energy's PBR system. This will also serve as the inoculum that will be delivered and used at the DVJ site.
Ms. Berry further commented, "As today is the last Tuesday of the month, the Company will be releasing its "In Touch Tuesday Newsletter" to all shareholders subscribing to the mailing list. To receive the BioCentric Energy newsletter please visit the Company's website www.biocentricenergy.com and fill out the mailing list form."

BioCentric Energy Announces Major Breakthrough Using Ambient Water Temperature for Radiant Cooling of Photobioreactor
SANTA ANA, Calif., July 6, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- BioCentric Energy Holdings, Inc. (Pink Sheets:BEHL) President Monique Berry today announced the company has successfully achieved the use of the ambient temperature of fresh water at the company's Death Valley Junction (DVJ) location using an aquifer for radiant cooling.
Ms. Berry stated: "When Company Chairman Dennis Fisher first went to Death Valley Junction April, 2009 to meet with Mr. Regnell of the Amargosa Conservancy, the BioCentric Team completed preliminary investigations regarding solar radiation, rainfall, wind, and wind direction, both the flora and fauna, and how far down the waterline is presently. The BioCentric Team researched radiant cooling utilizing the close proximity of pond liners within 12 inches of the waterline and could find nothing comparable to the unique location of Death Valley Junction and a massive fresh water aquifer beneath. Assumptions were calculated, risks analyzed and mitigated where possible, and a plan was devised to utilize the ambient temperature of the fresh water aquifer only a few feet below the surface."
Ms. Berry further commented, "As previously stated, four one quarter acre areas in Death Valley Junction have been excavated, the liners have been installed, and the CABs (Control Algae Basin) were flooded with the fresh water from the aquifer on the 23rd of June where our tubes (62 lanes wide, 210 feet long) will be placed to control temperature and provide containment."
On Saturday, July 3rd and Sunday, July 4th, Monique Berry was onsite at the DVJ location and obtained important test result data and personally measured the temperatures within the CABs. The results were significantly better than anticipated. Without any circulation, with daytime temperatures well over 100 degrees for each of the last ten days, the temperature within each of the four CABs is between 72 and 76 degrees. This data validates the plan devised to utilize the ambient temperature of the fresh water aquifer for radiant cooling.
"With a minimal pump of the aquifer and a return pump back into the aquifer to provide additional heat exchange, we now know that we can maintain optimum temperatures with significant cost reductions and savings far greater than even calculated," stated Ms. Berry.

SANTA ANA, Calif., July 7, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- BioCentric Energy Holdings, Inc. (Pink Sheets:BEHL) President Monique Berry today announced that the Company's Founder and Chairman of the Board, Dennis Fisher, filed a patent on July 6th, 2010 for version #4 of its Algae Pro Closed-Loop Photobioreactor system. This system will be utilized at the Company's first commercial site located in Death Valley Junction, California, in the next few weeks as well as subsequent sites later this year.
The team unloaded the semi-trailer containing 8 skids of proprietary plastic tubing on Tuesday morning at the Company's headquarters in Santa Ana, California. The team is now in the process of draining the system of algae and water. Once drained, the CAB (controlled algae basin) will be thoroughly cleaned and the new plastic tubes will be attached to the corners. Lastly, the system will be rigorously sterilized and subsequently inoculated with the Company's proprietary strain for Omega-3 with EPA. Also, BioCentric Energy's scaled-down gravity fed system will be outfitted with new plastic tubes this week and will be used to test the stability of algae strains in a commercial environment.
BioCentric Energy's Manager of Research and Development, Mr. Helmut Gass has been perfecting the process of concentrating the algae biomass (separating the algae from water) using his proprietary electrolysis device. Because the results were clearly evident, Mr. Gass will be scaling up to concentrate large volumes of algae later this week. While showing off the results of his work to his colleagues, Mr. Gass stated, "It was really amazing how quickly the algae separated once I dialed in the right parameters. This speed and consistency will be a great benefit to BioCentric Energy when concentrating the algae in our daily commercial environment."
During a visit to Death Valley Junction last weekend, BioCentric Energy President, Monique Berry took some photos to share with the BEHL shareholders which will be available on the company's website soon. Berry stated, "The mountains and the natural scenery was remarkable. Seeing wild horses in the pond near our site was a rare and beautiful experience. Finally, the Death Valley Junction Opera House was not only an exceptional work of art, but it was a display of incredible talent and dedication. There is much opportunity in and around the Death Valley Junction area and BioCentric Energy is very proud to be working in such an amazing and historical place."
The Company would like to make a correction to the BEHL July 6th Press Release that stated "...Fisher first went to Death Valley Junction April, 2009 to meet with Mr. Regnell of the Amargosa Conservancy,..." Mr. Regnell is with the Amargosa Opera House Inc. and not with the Conservancy.
